New Stuff

I have no self control when it comes to buying new beauty products. I’ve recently started getting paid fortnightly so when I get paid I feel rich for about 3 seconds and forget that it still has to last me another 13 days. Generally on day 1 I conveniently wander past Mecca, Sephora or Priceline which are far too close to where I work for me to have any control over the matter.

I tend to do a lot of research when it comes to forking out cash for beauty products, which is partially the reason I started this blog,  but sometimes I’m in a massive ‘treat yo’ self’ mood and my pay starts to burn a hole in my pocket and I pretty much buy whatever is in front of me. One of my recent splurges was a combination of both research and splurging. So here’s some of the notable stuff that I purchased..

Frank Body Lip Scrub and Lip Balm

Both of these products are amazing, cheap and as per all of the Frank Body stuff, the packing is super cute. I use both of these together every morning and night. This scrub is particularly great to use in the morning or before reapplying lip gloss or lipstick. It scrubs away any gross skin, leaves it soft and reveals a slightly more pink lip colour to your freshly scrubbed lips. I’ll pop on a light wash of the lip balm in the morning, and as needed through the day, but I’m heavier handed at night as I find that I often wake up with super dry lips in the morning, which hasn’t been a problem since I’ve started this routine. Obviously it isn’t rocket science but I have spent a lot more to get the same or a worse result before so I’m pretty happy with it to be honest.

Better yet, these products are both 100% natural and contain heaps of good stuff like Lanolin, Coffee See Oil and Coconut Oil that keep your lips hydrated and just all round excellent. I can confirm that I’ll probably be repurchasing this over and over until I’m either broke or dead.
Too Face Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara

I recently got a sample of the original Better Than Sex Mascara in a Beauty Loop box and fell in love with it again. For the life of me I can’t remember why I didn’t repurchase this in the first place. The only thing I don’t like about it is that due to hay fever my eyes are often watery so mascara doesn’t always fare so well which doesn’t look super cute. I was hoping that this would be solved by a waterproof version but unfortunately this mascara hasn’t quite lived up to the original in terms of volume and length. This formula is a little more messy and wet which isn’t great for me because I’m a klutz and frankly a bit lazy so having to clean up my mascara isn’t my idea of a good time. I’m hoping that once this dries out a bit it may apply a little smoother and less clumpy and messy.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

The jury is still out on this one, and by the jury i mean me.  It applies easily and a little goes a long way but I find it super drying on the inner and outer corners of my eyes. I get irritated eyes at the best of times so unfortunately I don’t know if this product is going to work for me despite so many people I know raving about it. I really want to love it and I will continue to use it until it’s empty but it just hasn’t lived up to the hype for me.

Maybelline FaceStudio Master Contour V- Shape Duo Stick (available in Priceline stores)

I’m not really about a heavy contour but I have a pretty round face so sometimes I need to give the illusion that I have cheek bones. This product is amazing and handy and the shade of the contour stick is perfect for my skin tone. I swipe a line to mimic my natural cheek hollow and buff it in with my foundation brush after I’ve applied my foundation. The highlight side is also pretty great for a ‘drugstore’ buy. I mainly use it to highlight my brow bone and clean it up a little if I’ve been a bit reckless with my eye makeup. I’m really impressed by this product, it’s price and how easy it is to use. Maybelline have really been creating some great products that rival some high end, and most definitely higher priced makeup items. If you’re a contouring novice or like a cream bronzer honestly go out and buy this.

No doubt I’ll be doing a lot of posts like these as a way to justify spending stupid amounts of money on makeup.

If there’s anything you think I should invest in please let me know as I’m always up for suggestions for new stuff to test run.
