Review: Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self Tan Face Oil

My mission for this Summer was for my skin to look better without makeup on. One of the biggest reasons why I wear foundation is because of how much paler my face is in comparison to my body, which is made even more apparent when I get a tan in the summer months. I’ve been on the lookout for a face tanner that essentially just causes my skin to go to shit, because that defeats the purpose of my mission.

Then I found Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self Tan Face Oil. I was hesitant to invest in an oil as oily skin is problem for me in the warmer months. I wasn’t too convinced initially but this has been such a nice addition to my night time routine as I wake up with super soft skin after using this every second night or so. I do like that the Argan Oil ┬áit contains is meant to help with puffiness and inflammation, the coconut adds hydration and the aloe vera soothes skin and stimulates cell growth, so it makes this product a lot more than just a face tanner but a pretty overachieving skincare product.

In terms of the actual quality of the tan… it’s quite subtle which is good as it would be a little bit of a disaster to have a botched face tan. When my face tans naturally it seems to dull my skin tone rather than add a glow so this is also a perfect addition to my skin after I’ve gotten some sun to add hydration as well as pump up the glow. After about 5 uses of 6 drops I did see a noticeable colour and tone difference. Skin pigmentation, marks and inflammation are definitely blurred and it just generally makes me more confident to go either bare faced or to just add a bit of blush and bronzer which is a big deal for me.

It is on the expensive side at $61 for the 30ml but a little goes a long way and it’s not something you need to use daily so I feel like this bottle will last quite a while. I do think if I finish it that I will repurchase it again next summer or may try and maintain my Summer tan for Winter.
